Welcome to the JRSA page

Welcome to the JRSA, the friendly John Roan School Association. Above/below you will see the timeline of events the JRSA is involved in throughout the year, and we welcome you to get involved in any of them, whether it's making teas of coffees or folding uniform. Please email jrsa@thejohnroanschool.org.uk

The JRSA Hardship Appeal

The JRSA is proud to support families in our community that might struggle over the Christmas period. Last year, we successfully raised £3000 and were able to support 30 families in need with a £100 food voucher from Aldi to help with their Christmas. This year, we would love to raise even more and support more families in this way. Thank you to everyone who donated last year. If you can help this year, your generosity will be greatly appreciated.

You can make a difference by donating today to THE JOHN ROAN SCHOOL ASSOCIATION. The John Roan School Association has three main aims; to hold events that engage with and improve communications between students, parents, staff and the larger school community; to raise funds and support the school community, especially those facing hardship; and to financially support the students and teaching team with activities and experiences above and beyond the school curriculum.  Click here to give, no matter how small, every penny counts https://gofund.me/d814538b

The JRSA Parent-Teacher Association

Welcome to the John Roan School Association, a charity PTA (registration 1189410)

We meet every term to provide an essential link between parents/carers and the school. The meetings are relaxed, social and informative. We discuss issues relating to the school, fundraising ideas and upcoming social events. Eve Daniels, chairs the JRSA and Cath Smith, Principal of the school attends every meeting and reports on life at the school. Dates this year are:

  • 11th December 2024
  • 29th January 2025
  • 12th March 2025
  • 7th May 2025
  • 18th June 2025
Come along and meet the committee: Eve Daniels – Chair, Ivis Williams – Treasurer, Lucie Murphy – Secretary,  Sandra Smith, Trish Bullen, Sam Woodgate, Sharleen Baxter and Livy Gibbs – Trustees.

Over the last few years, we have been able to give different departments and areas of the school some support with funding which has been raised through the JRSA. This has included new equipment for The Hope Memorial Trust at Braithwaite, as well as the Geography, Science, Design and Technology, Art, PE and Music Departments.

Throughout the year, we hold quiz nights, a Summer BBQ, support concerts organised by the Music Department and provide refreshments and a friendly face at Parent and Open Evenings.

Come along to the next meeting for a chat and a coffee.

Everyone welcome!
