🏆Inclusion Team - Staff Team of the Year Our Inclusion Team was honoured for their unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every student thrives. Learning Coach Nicole commented, “We have been trusted to grow and develop our new roles around the needs of our students. This has helped us to strengthen our position as a team whose central purpose is to provide our students with the skills and self-determination to become the independent learners they need to be and to overcome their barriers to learning at school.”
We are also delighted to announce the individual successes of two of our students at the prestigious event, held at the Cutlers’ Hall in Sheffield, which celebrated the remarkable achievements of students and staff from United Learning schools across the country.
🏆Leona (Year 11) - History Award Leona was recognised for her exceptional progress and passion for History. Her dedication was evident in her significant role in planning a Holocaust Memorial Day at the school. Leona said, “I have been inspired in my study of History by my amazing History teachers and am very proud to represent them and the school. This is such an honour and I am now looking forward to returning to the Sixth Form to continue with History.”
🏆Shristi (Year 13) - Art Award Shristi’s artistic talents were celebrated with the Art Award. Her creative abilities were also recognised last year when her piece, Nocturnal, was shortlisted for the United Learning International Art Competition. Shristi expressed her gratitude, saying, “Since joining the school I have been encouraged and inspired by the Art teachers who have fired my ambition and supported my growing confidence in using a range of media to express my ideas.”
Principal Cath Smith expressed her pride, stating, “I am thrilled that Leona, Shristi, and our excellent Inclusion Team have been honoured with awards at this year’s Best in Everyone ceremony. We are lucky to have so many fantastic students and staff members at our school, and our award winners are testament to what a special place The John Roan School is. Many congratulations to Leona, Shristi, and the Inclusion Team for their extraordinary work and dedication.”
First held in 2013, the annual Best in Everyone Awards celebrate the accomplishments of students and staff at United Learning schools across the country. This year, the awards recognised both academic excellence and extracurricular achievements, including notable contributions to local communities.
